Jay Munyer Sensei ⋙ Sandan (3rd degree black belt)
Jay Munyer began training in 1993 at Aikido of Santa Cruz, under the instruction of Linda Holiday Sensei and Glen Kimoto Sensei. Jay has also been greatly influenced by Motomichi Anno Sensei, 8th dan, training with him during his many visits to Santa Cruz. In 2012 Jay traveled to Shingu, Japan, where he trained with Anno Sensei. Jay has also trained at New York Aikikai and Bond Street Dojo, in New York City.
Jay Sensei has been an assistant instructor in the youth classes at Aikido of Santa Cruz since 2008, and has served as the youth program coordinator since 2010. He says, “I believe that young people are capable of much more than we often expect of them. Our students constantly surprise me with what they are capable of when we challenge them to excel. It is our job as Aikido teachers to draw out the amazing potential of our young students, while at the same time keeping the sense of fun and play that is an important part of growing up.”
