Aikido for Beginners

A Path for New Adult Students

Welcome! Aikido for Beginners is a six-week introductory series designed to give new students a strong and supportive start to their Aikido practice.

Through a progressive series of classes, you'll explore Aikido's basic movements and techniques, learn safe falling and rolling methods, become familiar with traditional dojo etiquette, and begin discovering how Aikido can help you blend, flow, center under pressure, and expand your awareness.

Aikido is practiced cooperatively rather than competitively. Each person is encouraged to learn at their own pace, with guidance from experienced instructors in a supportive and welcoming dojo environment.

Aikido for Beginners is our recommended starting point for students who are new to Aikido. If the series schedule doesn't work for you, you're still welcome to begin your practice in our regular Adult classes.

The series meets:

Saturday mornings: 9:00 - 10:15 AM

To participate in the Aikido for Beginners course, please establish an Adult membership before attending your first class. Your membership includes the six-week Aikido for Beginners series as well as access to all other Adult Aikido classes. Please use the promo code INTRO during checkout.

Your First Two Months

New students joining through Aikido for Beginners receive 50% off the regular Adult membership rate for their first two months.

During this period, you'll have:

  • Unlimited access to Adult Aikido classes throughout the week

  • The six-week Aikido for Beginners series

  • A copy of Journey to the Heart of Aikido by senior teacher Linda Holiday

With Adult Aikido classes offered every day of the week, you can begin building a practice that fits your schedule while using Aikido for Beginners as a foundation.

After the first two months, your membership continues at the regular Adult rate of $135/month for unlimited classes. You may cancel your membership at any time.

Can't Make the Series?

Aikido for Beginners is our recommended starting point, but it is not a prerequisite for joining the dojo. If the series schedule doesn't work for you, you are welcome to begin in our regular Adult classes. Our instructors are prepared to help new students find an appropriate way to participate.

You can also join us for our free Introduction to Aikido workshops, offered periodically throughout the year. These are a great opportunity to experience Aikido before deciding whether to begin training.

“Aikido is not a technique to fight with or defeat an enemy. It is a way to reconcile the world and make humanity one family.”

- Morihei Ueshiba, O-Sensei, founder of Aikido
