Jerilyn Munyon Sensei ⋙ Godan (5th degree black belt)
Began training in Aikido in 1979
Jerilyn Munyon began her Aikido training here in Santa Cruz in 1979. Her dedication to practice in our UCSC Aikido group (our only dojo at that time) led her to be instrumental in the founding of our first community dojo, “North Bay Aikido”, in 1982.
Jerilyn received her first black belt in 1984, and was the chief instructor of the UCSC Aikido program for 4 years. She continued her training under Senseis Linda Holiday and Glen Kimoto, and has studied with many other high level teachers, notably Motomichi Anno Sensei, 8th dan. Jerilyn Sensei has a strong commitment to Aikido as a practice of Peace, on and off the mat. As a teacher, she is very supportive of students of all levels, bringing a love of practice and a sense of humor to what challenges us.
